The "Allan Heighway School of Motoring" (AHSOM) was formed in 2003 by suprisingly enough Allan Heighway.
After a short time with a well known Driving School I branched out on my own. The main reason was that I felt I could do a better job if I only had to answer to myself. There are no restrictions on my hours or the level to which I can train.
My previous employment was as a Workshop Manager for an electronics company where I worked for about seven years. During the time I was there the workshop grew to 9 times it's original size in staff turning over 2200 pieces of equipment per month. After a management buy out I was made redundant and as this was the second time I realised the best thing I could do would be to work for myself.
I chose to become a Driving Instructor because I felt I could be good at it. Hopefully I have acheived that aim.
